Where Our Forklift Hire Business Started

Excellence For Over 40 Years

HGW was founded in the 1970s by Harry Wood.

As a service engineer at a leading forklift manufacturers plant, Harry was known for his technical skills, attention to detail and honest advice.

When he was offered an opportunity to set up a business by a client, HGW was born and Harry never looked back.

Quickly, the team grew and HGW started to become renowned for its commitment to quality.

How Sport Shaped the HGW Way

For anyone who’s ever met Harry, Rugby League is very much his third passion (family and forklifts come before it).

A former youth player turned professional, the teamwork, hard graft and togetherness instilled in the game was adopted into his approach to building a business.

When his son David came into HGW (another rugby league enthusiast), this philosophy only grew. Like father like son, David always strives to be the best and has instilled this into his team.

Although he’s swapped being in the scrum for the perfect swing/landing in the bunker, Dave has brought the next generation of the family into the business.

The Third Generation of HGW

Luke, another chip off the block when it comes to sport, is part of our servicing team. With a creative outlook and an ambition to grow the reputation of the business even further, his next step is to progress onto the management team.

And not forgetting Dave’s other son Tom, who runs a successful recruitment agency Lignum Recruitment in our hometown of Warrington.
